new art for the new year

Things have been quite busy in my studio this winter. I've been hard at work on a new series of photographs that experiment with the use of texture and contrast. This photograph below is a 'landscape' made from a leaf that fell out of its tree last autumn and dried in my yard. I positioned the camera extremely close to the leaf, forming the 'land' from the smooth length of its body. The 'mountains' in the background are from the leaf's raw edges that had cracked and curled. I then added an organic texture I created to reinforce the feeling of an old landscape painting. It's one of my favorites this winter. Click here for more of my recent photographs.
