a portrait of my hometown

Joseph Tripi made a series of photographs called All America City that create a wonderful portrait of our mutual hometown of Buffalo, New York. It’s a misunderstood place, usually only thought of as a forgotten land of snow and shuttered factories. But there’s a spirit there, an honesty. For better or worse, it’s a real place, and I like how Joseph portrays that. It’s hard to explain exactly how, but his relatively simple, clean photos of people and places around the city capture the personality I feel when in Buffalo. It’s a project I wish I had done.
