Wave (fallen leaf)

Wave ©Daniel Sroka

My latest work-in-progress is a photograph of a fallen leaf, that has curled nearly in half, and then bowed again in opposite direction, like a fortune cookie. The past few months have been very productive for me, and I really feel like I am making some great progress. As you can see, I am still experimenting with adding texture to my photographs. This is something I’ve experimented with for a long time, but only recently have I figured out what I want to do with it artistically. Instead of being just something added on, the additional organic complexity is beginning to feel like it is adding an additional depth to these photographs. This is my last post for the year, so I’d like to wish you all the happiest of new years! See you in 2008.

Dan,

I like this piece. I see the added organic feeling that you talk about. There is great texture and warmth, an interesting contrast between softness and hard, sharp edges as well.

Happy New Years to you!
