My new year’s resolution is a simple one this year: to not base my sense of success on benchmarks established by other people. There are a lot of ideas out there about what makes an artist a “success” — gallery representation? Money? Fame? Artistic credibility? But you know, I don’t care. Those are other people’s goals, not mine. This year, I want to be able to define what “success” means for me, based on my own photography, and the way my art relates to my life.
